Friday Favorites: Spring, PB & Chocolate, & Work it Out!

Spring

I can't see daffodils and not think of my dad. He was older when I was born; like the age I will be when my kids are out of college! So, when he retired, I was still pretty young and I was still literally Daddy's little girl. Though he stopped working, he never stop being active. He became a very enthusiastic volunteer and one thing he felt passionately about was working for the American Cancer Society. In the beginning of every spring, he would take orders for their Daffodils Days fundraiser, and we would then deliver them around town. As much as I hated being dragged around, I really look back fondly on that time I had with my father. If you see someone selling flowers for the ACS, please buy bunches for all your loved ones.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate

Now, I bought this fancy schmancy bar of Mast Brothers Chocolate for Mr. Scissors for Valentine's, but truth be told, I have eaten most of it! Unlike most waxy, mast produced chocolate, Mast Brothers's is complex, rich, fruity, rich and earthy. Something to savor; you just need a small square and you're satisfied. Grown up tastes, for sure.

You all know how I have been crushing on smoothies lately? Well I just found this amazing organic, all natural peanut butter that I like to add to them: MaraNatha Organic No Stir Peanut Butter. It is amazingly smooth, light, and fluffy. And here's the shocker--my kids will eat it! Most natural peanut butters they just do not dig, but they didn't even blink an eye at this one. It's pretty low in sugar too boot!

Working Out

I don't know what has gotten over me lately, but I don't feel right if I don't work out. On those days that I can't get to the gym, I have been doing the Crunch: Super SlimDown (available on Netflix instant streaming). Most work out videos end up totally annoying me, but I love Ellen Barret's style. Easy to follow and encouraging. Plus, it doesn't hurt when you're doing it, but afterwards, you ache in all the right places (like your hiney!).

  1. I am addicted to Maranatha. It's like naturally artificial or something like that.
