Photo Essay: My Favorite Part of Summer

I'm not much of a summer person. Both Mr. Scissors and I are fans of the fall... jazz, leaves changing color, cozy, coffee. Autumn is slow and mellow; more our speed. The one thing that I do love about summer is the availability of local, just-picked produce and fortunately for me, many of the veggie gardeners here will put out their extras along with an honesty payment jar. More than the ripe tomatoes I think I just like quaintness of this type of commerce. These pics come from one of my favorite home farm stands close to my abode. Their veggie garden must be at least a 1/2 acre.

I'll be posting some more inspiring home veggie garden posts in the next week. Stay tuned!

  1. Man, I love places with honesty payment jars! We don't have those around here, but my boyfriend used to live in a rural town in middle Tennessee, and they had those roadside stands with no one watching and little boxes to put your money in. That level of trust is amazing to me. If we had those in Memphis, folks would be stealing shit left and right.

I love comments! Thanks for saying hi!
